At InVision, our team members are vital to carrying out our mission of empowering people and creating a lasting impact. Since joining InVision as Director of Finance on October 7, 2024, JR Horne has already proven himself to be an integral part of our team. With a wealth of experience and a passion for mission-driven work, JR is committed to ensuring our financial operations support the impactful services we provide every day.
As the Director of Finance, JR oversees the daily accounting functions that keep InVision running smoothly. From managing revenue and accounts payable to supporting rep payee functions, his role ensures that all financial processes operate efficiently. “I basically make sure the ‘trains and buses’ keep moving for Finance,” JR explained.
Beyond daily operations, JR is also responsible for preparing accurate and timely financial statements while maintaining a robust system of internal controls. These efforts ensure that InVision’s financial activities align with our organizational goals. Since joining, JR has worked on significant projects, such as supporting the implementation of the ICHRA medical plans and becoming familiar with the UKG Ready system, which went live shortly before his start date.
JR’s professional background is as impressive as it is diverse. He’s a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with experience in public and private accounting. He began his career as an auditor, working with clients in manufacturing, retail, and nonprofit sectors. Later, JR expanded his expertise through roles at Reed Smith, a top global law firm, as well as in manufacturing, and at another human services nonprofit, Partners for Quality.
This wide-ranging experience has given JR a unique perspective on financial processes and the ability to adapt quickly to new systems and challenges. Reflecting on his start at InVision, JR praised the organization’s thorough onboarding process, which helped him transition into his role smoothly.
This mission-driven mindset inspires JR to bring his best to the table every day. It’s also what drew him to InVision, where the work he does directly supports people in our communities.
His connection to the Pittsburgh area runs deep. Native to Hampton, he attended North Catholic High School before earning a double major in Accounting and Information Systems Management at Duquesne University. He now resides in Ross Township with his wife, where they enjoy hiking, paddleboarding, and traveling to new destinations together.
This balance between professional dedication and personal fulfillment allows JR to approach his work with fresh energy and focus. As he continues to grow in his role, JR is committed to helping InVision’s financial operations thrive, ensuring our organization can keep creating meaningful impact for years to come.
