Beginning as a Direct Support Professional in residential services, Ruth’s career has centered around community services for children and adults who experience challenges due to mental health issues, intellectual disability, traumatic brain injury, autism, and other disabilities.
Ruth established InVision Human Services (formerly SharpVisions) in 1992 and is widely known not only as a staunch supporter of people with disabilities and their DSP staff, but also as an expert in providing services to those individuals who are often underserved by traditional programs. Today, InVision supports over 500 people across Pennsylvania through its
fully customized approach to its services. InVision also has a Global Partnerships program in place, currently
supporting four organizations in South Africa.
Ruth has also dedicated time to the ID/A community through her professional affiliations including as co-founder and president of
The Provider Alliance; as an officer for multiple terms on the board of
Pennsylvania Advocacy and Resources for Autism and Intellectual Disabilities (PAR); co-founder and chair of the board of directors of William Penn Human Services; and co-founder of the Network for Quality ID Services in Pennsylvania. Ruth continues as an active member of the Residential Strategic Thinking Group, convened by ODP Deputy Secretary, Kristen Ahrens. Ruth also serves on the boards of InVision Human Services, InVision Customized Services, InVision Foundation, and InVision Behavioral Health, as well as other community organizations.
